The Pirelli Scorpion STR tire tread compound is formulated for enduring varying weather conditions for usage throughout the year. The asymmetrical tread pattern comes in two different variations which are configured for North American and European designs. The STR A are North American variants which have continuous shoulder ribs and tread blocks marked with tight grooves. This ensures even distribution of stress for managing workload and reducing noise emission during usage. The STR are European variants which are marked by their large groves on the tread blocks and side grooves on the shoulder ribs. This increases their wet traction and protection against hydroplaning.
